1.0             Background

The Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago was established by Act No. 34 of 1985 to carry out the registration of engineers and otherwise regulate the practice of engineering in Trinidad and Tobago as required by the law.  The Act was assented to on December 12, 1985. 

            The present Board was appointed by the Minister of Works and Transport on March 19, 1998.

1.1            Composition of the Board

            In accordance with Clause 11(1) of the Act, there shall be established as a corporate body a Board of Engineering appointed by the Minister and consisting of:- 

(a)       four (4) registered engineers nominated by and holding membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago.  These are Engineers Hollis Charles, Lauriston Lewis, Ronald Nurse and Prof. Winston A. Mellowes. 

(b)       a public officer who is registered or is eligible to be registered as a registered engineer.  This public officer is Eng. Hilton Charles. 

(c)        two (2) persons appointed to represent the public interest.  These are Mr. Hewitt Nicholson and Mrs. Margaret Edwards.

(d)       Eng. Fenrick De Four is the Registrar/Secretary of the Board.

(e)       Eng. Ronald Nurse was appointed Treasurer.
